🏮 Yamada Spring Festival (Tsuneji Shrine Annual Festival) 📌 Features 🌸 This spring festival in the Chichibu region features the first floats of the year. It is held as the annual festival of Tsuneji Shrine. 🛞 The floats consist of one Kasaboko and two Yatai (floats)—a total of three. They are pulled from morning to night, converging at Tsuneji Shrine during the day and heading to Yasaka Shrine in the afternoon. 💃 Highlights include the Hikiodori (dances) performed inside the floats and the Mikoshi (portable shrine) procession. 📜 History (Brief Summary) The origins of the Tsuneji Festival (Tsuneji Shrine festival) are traced back to the "Nyusha" and "Nyu Myojin" shrines, which appear in local historical documents (the "Shinpen Musashi Fudoki-go"). During the Edo period, it was passed down as part of the festivals of both shrines, and in December 1908 it was merged into Tsuneji Shrine, where it remains to this day. The Tsuneji Festival floats and three Kasaboko floats pulled during the festival are designated as tangible folk cultural properties by Chichibu City (designated on January 25, 1965). Otana Kasaboko: Said to have been built in the early Meiji period. Nakayamada Yatai: A ink inscription dating from 1848 remains on a storage box.
