The game was originally created for Ludum Dare 47, a game jam event with the theme being "Stuck in a loop".[1] The version of the game that would now be known as the Ludum Dare prototype was released on the 5th of October, 2020, the jam's last day for submissions. The current demo of the game was released to Newgrounds and itch.io on the 1st of November, 2020. On the itch.io page, it can also be downloaded for Windows, macOS and Linux devices for free or with an optional donation. The game is set to release on Android and iOS at a future date.[2] Friday Night Funkin' is drawn and animated in a manner that nostalgically encapsulates Newgrounds' Flash animations with an art style inspired by graffiti street art. The game takes place in multiple levels where the player is confronted with various opponents in multiple songs. The full version of the game, dubbed Friday Night Funkin': The Full Ass Game, is currently in development, having been successfully funded via an official Kickstarter campaign. SML Plush Show (formerly named SuperMarioLogan, supermariologan, and SML) was the original YouTube channel created by Logan Thirtyacre, used for video using mostly Nintendo plush toys, and puppets starting along with his older brother, Lance Thirtyacre, and later close acquaintances, such as Lovell Stanton, Pablo Sanchez, Chilly and Tito Jimenez, and Elaina Keyes. The channel started to get popular after the release of Mario and Luigi's Stupid and Dumb Adventures. It later became mostly known for its character Jeffy, as well as actual destruction made for the sake of the videos. Despite the channel's videos containing mature themes for older audiences, following the introduction of Jeffy, a good portion of the fanbase were (and are) young children. As such, the channel gained a huge cult following. On December 11, 2017, SuperMarioLogan was almost completely age-restricted by YouTube. On February 28, 2018, the channel got completely demonetized, and as a result became inactive. On August 22, 2019, over 60 videos were deleted for violating YouTube's Terms of Service, almost all of which have been age-restricted prior. Another article released about a child who tried to recreate a part in Jeffy's Tantrum! were Jeffy tried to take his own life, but this was never proven to be true. As a result of the Cease and Desist controversy in early 2021, the channel was briefly renamed to "SML", then to "SML Plush Show", before being deleted on July 8, 2021, these were later reuploaded by Dabhdude on his SML Reuploadedchannel, they can still be viewed there today. All new episodes are currently uploaded on the new SML channel.
