20180520 Tyrell IVE - more road tests

Took the bike out for a longer ride and for some rolling terrain around Mandai, Woodlands Rd, just around the nature reserves. The IVE have gears so obviously this a better ride going up slope vs my single speed Brompton. I can spend longer time outside of my redline and climb faster. I always have to be conscious about my cadence with this bike. I've no problems on the road bike, but outside of that, I feel like treating any other bike like my Brompton S1E. Always have to remind myself to avoid mashing the pedals. The feel of the bike is not just heavy (again compared to my S1E). It feels heavy on the rear end, as if you're dragging something from behind. It could be because of the chunky rear triangle. So its good that this thing have gears. Slowly build up your speed with a comfortable cadence and don't let go of the sweet spot. For me, my sweet spot speed seems around 30-32 kph on flat roads. Anything more than that feels like I'm increasing my effort exponentially. Btw, I had my chainring changed from 53T to a 56T when I bought this. My thinking was to be able to hit 40kph at around 100rpms only so I don't have to spin too much (ie. 115rpms on the S1E). Turns out, its a lot harder to do. Aside from the IVE, I also posted some observations on the Garmin Edge 130 particularly on the gradient updates while riding. I've seen it before on my Edge 510 though not as crazy on the 130.
