Castrofilippo is all set for the 28th edition of the "Onion Festival" with Sasa' Salvaggio and the four flavors. A three-day event, on August 10, 11, and 12, will feature tastings and entertainment to celebrate Castrofilippo's signature product, a Slow Food Presidium. For the occasion, traditional dishes featuring the Paglina onion will be prepared by Castrofilippo's restaurateurs and pizzerias and will be distributed at designated stands for visitors to sample. Here's the complete three-day program: On Wednesday, August 10, at 9:00 p.m., Castrofilippo's restaurateurs will present their onion specialties during an evening of folk Sicilian songs and music entitled "Festa allegria e passioni di Sicilia" (Festival of Joy and Passions of Sicily), organized by the Diapason Scala dei Turchi cultural association of Realmonte. Thursday, August 11th, 9 pm: Street Food and a cabaret show with Sasà Salvaggio. Friday, August 12th: Street Food and a cabaret show with "I Quattro Gusti." The center of the event will be Viale Bonfiglio. During the Onion Festival, there will also be an exhibition of a papier-mâché structure depicting the typical Castrofilippo product, created by the "Happy People" association of Castrofilippo. "We hope," declared Mayor Franco Badalamenti and Councilor for Sport, Tourism, and Entertainment Salvatore Alessi, "that many visitors will participate in these three days of events dedicated to our onion, which has reached the tables of millions of Italians and is used in the cuisine of internationally renowned chefs. These will be three intense days, packed with events and good food," conclude Badalamenti and Alessi, "which we want to share with those who honor us with their participation."
