Forging a Blacksmith’s Knife out of Old Coil Spring (Part 1)
In this video, I start forging a traditional blacksmith’s style knife from an old coil spring. What started as a piece of scrap suspension steel gets heated, hammered flat, and slowly transformed into usable knife stock. For Part 1, I flatten the coil spring into roughly a 1” x 1/2” bar, then begin isolating the handle material down to a 1/2” square section using basic blacksmithing techniques at the anvil. This build pushed my hammer control, forging accuracy, and patience — and it’s only the beginning. If you enjoy blacksmithing, tool making, and turning scrap steel into something useful, subscribe and follow along for the rest of the build. #blacksmith #forging #knifemaking #bladesmith #metalworking #blacksmithing #knife #diy #coilspring #forgedknife
