On the auspicious occasion of the 82nd birthday celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Swami blessed several veteran devotees who have dedicated their lives to Him with the opportunity of anointing His beautiful locks with sacred oil to the background of sonorous Vedic chants. The program begins with a grand and royal procession leading Bhagawan from the Yajur Mandir to the Sai Kulwant Hall. Swami then cuts cakes made by the students and staff of His institutions. After the internationally renowned Carnatic duo Malladi brothers sing their specially composed birthday song "Bhagavanudu Puttina Panduga," Prof Anil Kumar addresses the gathering explaining the significance of the anointment ceremony and reminding devotees of the bygone days when Mother Easwaramma and Sri Pedda Venkappa Raju would receive this blessing. After the anointment ceremony, the Malladi brothers continue their uplifting concert as prasadam is distributed. In the evening, Swami grants darshan followed by an encore performance by the Malladi brothers and a special musical offering by the renowned ghazal singer Sri A Hariharan.
