Everyday hospital life in 2021: High workload and financial pressure on medical staff. Our ZoomIN reporter Lena Nagel wanted to see for herself the situation in German hospitals and accompanied resident Dr. Max Benckendorff for a shift. Max works in the intensive care unit and talks about his passion for the medical profession, about pressure, and about a billing system that prioritizes profits. German hospitals are financed through the case-based payment system. To understand this and the impact on hospital staff, Lena also speaks with Frieder Hummes from the Bunte Kittel initiative, physician and medical ethicist Prof. Karl-Heinz Wehkamp, ​​and medical sociologist Nadja Rakowitz from the Association of Democratic Doctors for this episode of ZoomIN.
