Slapstick Festival Flashmob - Smile by Charlie Chaplin w/ Paul Mcgann & City of Bristol Choir

As Slapstick Festival veterans will know, we like to throw the gala audience a little surprise of some sort in the foyer of Colston Hall before the main event. This year we had a flashmob formed by City of Bristol Choir, the Bristol Schools Chamber Choir and Paul McGann who, out of the blue, began serenading onlookers a well-known song. Naturally, with this year's theme being Charlie Chaplin's centenary there was only one song they were ever going to sing, namely Smile, the song based on an instrumental theme used in the soundtrack to one of Chaplin's most famous films, Modern Times (1936), which he himself composed. Fast forward to Slapstick 2019 and we're delighted to be screening Modern Times (1936) as this year's gala feature at Bristol Hippodrome!
