Ryan's Story - The Cochlear Implant Center at GBMC
Meet Ryan, an advocate for the Cochlear Implant Center at GBMC. "I was diagnosed with a profound hearing loss almost 16 years ago, since birth. My biggest hearing struggles prior to implantation were that I was beginning to need to listen to the television louder, have things repeated more often and I was becoming more visual, in order to lip read, to understand what was being said in certain environments such as a car. I’m a car enthusiast, I enjoy playing sports, traveling and spending time with my family and friends. What I love most about my implant is that I hear so well with it that I don’t have to work hard to hear, which I had to do before. Actually much to my surprise, if I need to, I can wear my implant alone and not wear my hearing aid in my other ear and I still hear and understand everything. My implant gives me a better quality of life every day and it also enables me to hear while I’m participating in water sports/activities." Learn more about our center: https://www.gbmc.org/cochlear
