I sourced a neck caul and neck rest from Stewart McDonald and a continuously adjustable clamp from Harbor Freight. I cut up a warped piece of 2x2 pine that I used to build my porch with. I made a long piece to span the fretboard and 2 smaller pieces to space the long board away for leverage. I added a couple of wooden dowel pieces so I could slip in the small blocks between the strings. I slacked the strings and used the clamp / wood / caul jig to add backbow. I then tightened the truss rod. I repeated the process of inducing more backbow and tightening the rod a few times until I was happy with the results. This is a game changer for sure. It's great to DIY and do it yourself when you are armed with the tools and skills needed to fix something. Don't force that truss rod on your guitar or bass if it's too tight. Follow these steps to get the extra adjument you need to remove the bow from the neck and lower the string action.
