Blood Done Sign My Name | Murdered in 1970. Denied Justice. A Community Rose Up.

BLACKTREE MEDIA SATURDAY SHOWCASE: BLOOD DONE SIGN MY NAME (2010) ✊🏾🎬 BlackTree Media proudly presents Blood Done Sign My Name, a powerful historical drama based on the acclaimed memoir by Timothy B. Tyson. Written and directed by Jeb Stuart, the film recounts the 1970 murder of Black Vietnam veteran Henry “Dickie” Marrow and the movement for justice that transformed Oxford, North Carolina. 📖 MOVIE SYNOPSIS When 23-year-old Henry Marrow is chased, brutally beaten, and killed by white men in public, Oxford’s Black community demands justice. The murder and subsequent trial expose the deep racial divisions within the town. After an all-white jury acquits the defendants, anger erupts across the community. Young teacher and activist Ben Chavis, Marrow’s cousin, channels that outrage into organized resistance. He leads a multiday march to the state capital and helps launch an economic boycott against Oxford’s segregated white businesses. Meanwhile, white Methodist minister Vernon Tyson struggles to persuade his congregation to confront racism, placing his ministry and family at odds with the community around them. 🎭 KEY CAST • Nate Parker as Ben Chavis, the young activist who organizes the community. • Rick Schroder as Reverend Vernon Tyson. • Omar Benson Miller as Herman Cozart. • Lela Rochon as Roseanna Allen. • Nick Searcy as Robert Teel. • Michael Rooker as defense attorney Billy Watkins. • Featuring Darrin Dewitt Henson, Afemo Omilami, Gregory Alan Williams, and Gattlin Griffith. 🎬 FILMMAKERS • Written and Directed by: Jeb Stuart • Based on the book by: Timothy B. Tyson • Music: John Leftwich • Cinematography: Steve Mason • Genre: Historical Drama / Civil Rights • Year: 2010 • Runtime: Approximately 128 minutes 🏆 THE TRUE STORY Henry Marrow was killed in Oxford on May 11, 1970. Although three white men were charged, the defendants who stood trial were acquitted by an all-white jury. The verdict inspired protests, a march of approximately 50 miles to Raleigh, and an 18-month boycott of white-owned businesses. Ben Chavis later became executive director of the NAACP and helped organize the Million Man March. 🌟 WHY THIS FILM MATTERS Blood Done Sign My Name reminds us that the civil-rights struggle did not end with the landmark legislation of the 1960s. It demonstrates how one act of racial violence can awaken an entire community and how organized protest, economic resistance, faith, and collective courage can challenge an unjust system. BlackTree Media is proud to showcase films that preserve Black history and honor the people who transformed grief into action. ⚠️ Viewer Discretion Advised: This film contains racial violence, offensive language, and mature historical themes. 👉 For more movies and TV streaming 24/7, visit BlackTreeTV.com — Where Legends Live Forever 👉 Subscribe to    / blacktreemedia   for: • Saturday Showcase Presentations • Black History Films • Civil Rights Dramas • Movies Based on True Stories • Hidden Gems • Exclusive Celebrity Interviews You can now become a member of this channel to get access to exclusive perks, including behind-the-scenes content and early access to videos!
