Learn Watercolour Techniques from Chickens!

Post your chickens on Sue Cooper's Art Club on Facebook! I can't tell you how relaxing it is painting chickens! I think it'll be my new go-to warm up exercise. In this tutorial, I cover: The "wet in wet"technique (wetting the chicken shape first and then "dobbing" colour on... The "wet on dry" technique and how to stop it streaking (use a brush that holds a lot of water). How you can get "cauliflowers" or "blooming" in your watercolours (apply a more watery mix of paint) How to avoid that if you don't want it! ("Suck up" the watery mix with the tip of a relatively dry paint brush) How to add some chicken embellishments with the end of your brush or tip of a mechanical pencil. Blending colours when you want them blended. Keeping colours apart when you want colour separation. Adding shadows to ground your flock of chickens! The world is your oyster when it comes to this exercise. Why not try adding a bit of watercolour pencil or line work with some fine liners! Let me know how you get on..
