🟣 Siria celebra un año sin la dictadura de Al Asad marcada por la violencia sectaria
Tens of thousands of people took to the streets of Damascus on Monday to commemorate the first anniversary of Bashar al-Assad's fall, in an atmosphere marked by celebration and popular jubilation. But the fragile transition is being shaken by intercommunal violence that has left thousands dead in the Druze and Alawite minority regions. Authorities are accused of failing to protect minorities and even of inciting or participating in the atrocities. Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, a former jihadist, has been received by leaders from around the world, rehabilitated Syria on the international stage, and has succeeded in getting sanctions against the country lifted. But in Syria, devastated by years of war, the government faces the challenge of restoring security and trust.
