LordKardok Plays - Abadox: The Deadly Inner War (NES)

Abadox is a creepy, almost horror-like, shoot 'em up, where an alien parasite has taken over your home planet, turning it into a giant living organism hellbent on devouring other planets. Your character is on a mission to not only destroy Abadox but also save the princess from it. The game doesn't really relay this information to you, you need to have the manual to know the backstory here. But let us talk about the things you can see in the game. The graphics are decent, the imagery is quite creepy. The music is a mix of some good soundtracks and some kind of boring, specifically the soundtrack that I'm pretty sure they reuse for each of the vertical stages. The controls are spot on and responsive, but there is no rapid fire, so if you don't have the NES Advantage for rapid fire, or playing with an emulator, your thumb is gonna get tired out quickly. As for game play, the game is a fairly decent shoot 'em up, but it is kind of hard. Since I played this one with emulation, I was able to give myself infinite lives, so I'm not even sure how much more harder the game would've been without those infinite lives. Also gave myself Speed upgrade level 3, so it probably is significantly harder then it appears. With these cheats making the game, not necessarily easy, but at least playable, I would say, unless you are good at shoot 'em ups, which I'm not, I wouldn't recommend playing this one without cheating a little. But if you are good at them, then you might like this one for the horror elements. As a heads up, from this point onward, all emulated games will have an overlay to signify that the game is played over emulation and not a physical copy. I know for some people this is an important factor, so I'm trying to make a distinction between when I'm playing an emulated game or a game I physically own.
