WHEEL BUILDING PRO TIPS... SPOKE TENSIONS AND WHY THEY BREAK

In this tutorial I talk to you about extra stresses spokes go through when a wheel is being ridden. This causes fatigue potentially leading to breakages especially if spoke tension isn't even and in the magic window. If the spokes aren't bedded in at the lacing stage there will also be undue flex and this will compound the problem. I'll show you the best way I have found to bed spokes in. This will help you get a better even tension keeping your wheels straighter for longer. They'll be much nicer to ride giving greater performance for drive, braking and cornering. It's critical this step is not left out if you want strong durable wheels. I also have a solution if you forget the bedding in, realising once the wheel is tensioned. No one wants to loosen the spokes off half way through a wheel build or a spoke change!
