The Crown settlement day Welcome from the Tuhoe Nation in Taneatua. 2014. In 1865 the Crown confiscated Tuhoe land and led a scorched earth campaign throughout Te Urewera. Subsequent NZ governments furthered the plunder and disenfranchisement of the Tuhoe people till today. This day saw the crown apologise to Tuhoe and begin a process of reconciliation.
