Michael Kuhr trained as a mail carrier and worked as a federal civil servant for the German Federal Postal Service between 1978 and 1995. In 1995, he retired from the postal service for health reasons. Since then, he has run a security company in Berlin and is considered a staunch advocate of close cooperation with the police. For example, he worked in Berlin with the LKA's special unit, the "Special Organization (BAO) Doormen." This powerful unit declared war on organized crime in January 2001, targeting discos, restaurants, and brothels. Kuhr began kickboxing in 1974. Winning the runner-up title at the 1979 World Championship, he rose to the top of the world and subsequently successfully participated in all major competitions. As an amateur, Kuhr won ten German championships, four European championships, and the WAKO World Champion in 1985. After turning professional, he became the first German professional kickboxing world champion in 1990. Between 1990 and 1994, he was world champion of the world federations WAKO-PRO, PKO, ISKA, and IKBF. In 1994, he ended his active career as the reigning professional world champion for health reasons. Due to his athletic achievements, he was inducted into the Kickboxing Hall of Fame. Michael Kuhr and his team of bouncers have appeared in documentaries on 3sat and on the television programs Galileo and Explosiv - Das Magazin, among others. A clip from a documentary in which Kuhr conducts a de-escalating conversation with a nightclub-goer was frequently shown as a segment on TV Total. Thanks to Michael Kuhr's testimony, the armed robbery at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on Potsdamer Platz on March 6, 2010, during Europe's largest poker tournament, the European Poker Tour, was solved. In court proceedings in September 2010, Kuhr identified one of the brothers from the highly criminal Abou-Chaker clan from Neukölln as the mastermind of the "poker robbery." After the Berlin State Criminal Police Office received a tip-off in the spring of 2012 regarding a murder order against Kuhr, the homicide squad summoned the two highest-ranking brothers of the Abou-Chaker clan to the police station as a preventative measure. The public prosecutor's office dropped the case for attempted incitement to murder after six months. #Berlin #Security #Bouncer
