Enjoy. This week Speaking Part 2 question: Talk about your favourite food You should say: What the food is How it is made Why you like it and explain why it is your favourite food. Why will the sample answer score Band 7 ? Let’s have a look at 4 marking criteria! Fluency and coherence - score 7 There’s no noticeable effort or loss of coherence. At times hesitated. Linking words: and, because, following, when, as, further Lexical resource -score 7 1.Relevant vocabularies: dish, meal, speciality, ingredients, preparation, mouthwatering, texture, tasteful, sauce. 2.Collocations: pretty easy, huge batch, cup of tea 3.Paraphrase: dish, meal, speciality Grammatical range and accuracy -score 7 1.There is the combination of simple sentences, complex sentences and compound sentences. 2.There are only two mistakes: (p)atch, ingredient(s) Pronunciation -score 7 I produced good, and clear pronunciation (: To score 7 in the IELTS you need to get at least 7 for three marking criteria, the last one can be 6. For example, if your vocabulary range is not advanced, it’s fine as you only need to score 6 for the lexical resource and you need to score 7 for the other three (score 7 for cohesion & coherence, score 7 for pronunciation & score 7 for grammatical range and accuracy).
