Key Facts: Publisher: Gold Key Comics (Western Publishing / Whitman). Writer: Dick Wood. Artist: Alberto Giolitti (Italian artist who worked from photo references, as the team hadn't seen the show much). Cover: Photo cover featuring images of the Enterprise, William Shatner as Kirk, Leonard Nimoy as Spock, and an alien. Tagline: “An alien form invades the Enterprise through Spock’s mind!” Pages: 36 pages (standard for the era). Original Price: $0.15. Stardate: 21:06.7. Brief Plot Rundown ("The Peril of Planet Quick Change"): The Enterprise encounters the planet Metamorpha (aka Planet Quick Change), which dramatically shifts its chemistry and appearance every few minutes. It contains valuable tiantianium (a rare, powerful metal). Spock helps revive an ancient civilization on the planet, but one of its energy beings takes over Spock’s body to escape and travel the galaxy, leading to an invasion of the ship through his mind. Kirk and the crew must resolve the crisis. This issue is a classic example of early Gold Key Trek: campy, imaginative sci-fi with some liberties on canon (common for the series, as artists worked remotely in Italy). It was later reprinted in collections like Enterprise Log 1. #StarTrek #GoldKeyComics #TOSComics #StarTrekComics #VintageComics #SilverAgeComics #KirkAndSpock #ThePerilOfPlanetQuickChange #RetroSciFi #ComicBookHistory
