Speech #3: Social Justice Persuasive Speech

This speech is 4-6minutes with an allowance of 8minutes. If your time is under 4minutes you will lose points significantly. Please orally cite all your 5 sources. Please Note: This assignment will be an individual assignment. One of the responsibilities of being an excellent speaker is to use your voice on behalf of those who do not have a voice. The Social Justice Resource Speech gives you an opportunity to advocate for an organization that promotes social justice. Social justice can be defined in many ways, but in a most basic way, social justice is the view that all groups should have equal access to social, political, and economic rights and opportunities. It is the belief that all people should have their fundamental rights respected and should be treated equally, regardless of sex, age, race, ethnicity, political affiliation, ability, gender identity, sexual orientation, class, possession, or other form of difference. Social justice requires us to work together for the greater good of all people. As you can see from the above description, the issue of social justice is multi-faceted, diverse, large, and complicated. Because of this, it is recommended that this assignment is for a group speech. However, this speech is an individual speech only for the online asynchronous class. You will research and use 5 scholarly sources from peer reviewed journals. No .com, .gov nor .org please do not use websites nor blogs. Watch the video for citations that I will post in the Announcement on how to use APA citations from the UC Library. I. The speech will have at least two fundamental parts. The first part should demonstrate that an inequity exists that creates problems for some members of our society. Below are a few sample issues but I encourage you to think of injustices that are personally important to you. II. The second part should detail an organization that is helping to improve the problem. You should illustrate what the organization is doing, its mission, and how our class audience can get involved. This speech should be both informative and persuasive in nature. By informing an audience that an injustice exists, you’re also persuading them that this topic is important and needs attention. You can make a call of action. By informing the audience about what an organization is doing to improve the injustice, you can also encourage your audience to support the organization.
