🕌 The Status and Importance of Prayer in Islam Prayer is the second pillar of Islam after the two testimonies of faith (Shahada). It is the foundation upon which the religion is built, without which it cannot stand. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may God be pleased with him): "Shall I not tell you the head of the whole matter, its pillar, and its highest point?" I said: "Yes, O Messenger of God." He said: "The head of the whole matter is Islam, its pillar is prayer, and its highest point is jihad." It is the first thing for which a person will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection. On the authority of Abdullah ibn Qurt (may God be pleased with him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The first thing for which a person will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection is prayer. If it is sound, then all his other deeds will be sound, and if it is deficient, then all his other deeds will be deficient." It is the distinguishing factor between a Muslim and a disbeliever. On the authority of Jabir (may God be pleased with him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Between a person and polytheism and disbelief is the abandonment of prayer." 📖 Evidence from the Holy Quran God Almighty commanded the establishment and preservation of prayer in many verses, emphasizing its importance and urging the Muslim community to pay close attention to it: God Almighty said: {And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is a burden except for the humbly submissive.} [Al-Baqarah: 45] God Almighty said: {Maintain with care the [obligatory] prayers and [in particular] the middle prayer and stand before God in devotion.} [Al-Baqarah: 238] God Almighty said: {Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing.} [Al-Ankabut: 45] Allah Almighty says: {Successful indeed are the believers, those who humble themselves in their prayers.} [Al-Mu'minun: 1-2] ☀️ The Great Virtues and Benefits of Prayer Prayer has many virtues and benefits, including: A reason for entering Paradise: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever prays the two cool prayers (Fajr and Asr) will enter Paradise." An expiation for sins: Prayer erases and washes away sins like water removes dirt. A purification of the heart and a cleansing of the soul: It brings peace to the heart and tranquility to the soul. A cause of success, prosperity, and honor in this life and the Hereafter for those who maintain it and are humble in it. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was distressed by something, he would hasten to prayer, finding solace in it. He emphasized it during his final illness, saying: "Prayer, and those whom your right hands possess (i.e., slaves)." ⚠️ Warning Against Neglecting Prayer Neglecting prayer is one of the greatest sins and most serious offenses, and it is a cause of regret and manifest loss. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The covenant between us and them is prayer; whoever abandons it has disbelieved.” Ibn Baz (may God have mercy on him) said: “The correct view is that one who deliberately abandons prayer, even out of laziness and without denying its obligation, is a major disbeliever.” Ibn Uthaymeen (may God have mercy on him) said: “Whoever abandons prayer out of negligence and laziness commits a disbelief that takes him out of Islam.” So, my Muslim brother, be diligent in prayer, for it is the path to success and great triumph, and turning away from it is manifest loss. #Treasures_of_Faith_Da’wah_Channel #The_Importance_of_Prayer #The_Virtue_of_Prayer #Prayer_is_the_Pillar_of_Religion
