The seventh album of this solo act from Kamtchatka Krai. Throughout his discography, Vladduh has masterfully balanced the raw, lo-fi aesthetics of black metal with atmospheric and occasionally ambient passages. However, this time the balance tips further towards the atmospheric side. The result is a softer, more immersive listening experience that still retains the essence of Vladduh’s musical identity. Despite the shift, this album does not completely abandon the elements that have defined Vladduh's sound. The album retains the aggressive, rabid vocalisations and repetitive riffs that are hallmarks of Slavic black metal. These elements ground the album in familiar territory, providing a sense of continuity for long-time listeners. The relentless, almost hypnotic riffs and harsh vocals evoke a sense of primal energy that is truly unsettling. The final track, “Fe - Ur - Turs” stands out, showcasing Skogskald’s ambient side, unlike the sporadic ambient moments interwoven on black metal as on previous records, this track delves fully into a ritualistic ambient performance. The music conjures images of ancient shamanic rituals, blending natural sounds with mystical, droning melodies. It's a powerful conclusion to the album, leaving a lasting impression with its enigmatic and otherworldly atmosphere. While this album may be softer and more atmospheric than previous releases, it still captures the essence of what makes this project unique, a journey through haunting soundscapes and raw black metal energy, culminating in a mesmerising ambient finale.
