NCST Champlain Towers South Investigation Technical Findings June 2026

HCCA was selected to participate in the National Construction Safety Team (NIST) investigation of the Champlain Tower South (Florida) partial collapse. This is the most recent video update related to the collapse. The video is quite long and begins with a short introduction of the main direct causes and the progression-timeline that resulted in the building failure. This summary is followed by a longer explanation of both the evidence and the timeline of events. The update concludes with next steps, including policy recommendations and the release of the full technical report that is planned next year. Thank you again for participating in our focus group. The information you shared will be instrumental as we craft recommendations for standards, codes and practices as part of the final report. With warm regards, Sarah Noppen, Ph.D. Postdoctoral Associate NIST Surfside Investigation Social Science Evidence Collection and Preservation Team
