WildernessOutfitters - The Pathfinder Alcohol Stove - Boil Test 1
In this video I will do my first boil test on the Pathfinder Alcohol Stove that Dave Canterbury, from WildernessOutfitters, sent me to play with. I already did a burn test and in that test I got a really fast start-up time. So this will make the second burn I've done with this stove. One thing I'm a little concerned with is the height of the included pot stand. In the past I've found that the mini Trangia (or just Trangia for some picayune people out there) needed around a one inch distance between the top of the burner to the bottom of the pot. The burner-to-pot distance is about 1 3/8" on the Pathfinder Alcohol Stove and it's pot stand, and it has a tighter flame than on the Mini Trangia (again Trangia for the picayune people). I was surprised on the Pathfinder Alcohol Stove's start-up time so I have hope. I'll also answer comments I got from Paulie Walnuts and oldgeekster1. Paulie Walnuts commented, " Hiram, How is the seal on the Pathfinder lid? One thing I like about my Trangia is the non sealed extinguisher cap. I would worry that without this on the Pathfinder, it would damage the seal." oldgeekster1 commented, " Hiram, received mine a couple-three days after seeing your initial video - there were a few strings of unknown material sticking out of the holes. There is a liner of some sort in there. The strings burned off on initial lighting. Today I'll do my sixth burn. Mine seems to get a little faster bloom each time I light it. Had it blow out once from the wind with the "stove" off - never with the "stove" on. After a lengthy burn - the base gets very hot, just takes longer than my trangias." Thank you, Paulie Walnuts and oldgeekster1, for your comments, and thank you all for watching my videos, Hiram Link to wildernessoutfitters: / wildernessoutfitters Link to the PathFinders Store: http://www.thepathfinderstore.com/ Lab0548 Title: WildernessOutfitters - The Pathfinder Alcohol Stove - Boil Test 1 Room temp: 72° (22.2°C) Humidity: 43% Weather condition: Cloudy, might rain Burner: Pathfinder Alcohol Stove Stove/Pot stand: Pathfinder Alcohol Stove Pot: Boy Scout pot #2 Fuel: methanol Amount of fuel: 3/4 full Amount of fuel consumed: 20.3 grams Amount of water: 2 cup(s) Water temp at start: 60° Time to boil: 10 minute(s) 14 second(s) Time to run-out: NA Note: NA = Not Available or Not Applicable Hammock Fight by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a CC Attribution 3.0. http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-....
