But strangely, as I researched more, reading more articles in watch media, watching more collectors' reviews, and following more YouTube channels, I began to find that those watches I initially thought were ugly didn't seem so ugly anymore. I even started considering saving up to buy a sports watch. Have watches become more beautiful? Or has my aesthetic sense changed? If the answer is the latter, then who changed my aesthetic sense? Most people I know who drink Islay whisky for the first time have similar reactions. They would say, "Hmm...like disinfectant." "Hmm...like a hospital." "Like a burnt tire." "Why would anyone want to pay for this?" But a few years later, many of these people who initially disliked peated whisky actually fell in love with it. They even started comparing the differences between different peated whiskies: "Hmm...this one has a cleaner smoky flavor." "This one has a sea breeze flavor." "This one leans towards ash." "This one seems to be full of tar." What happened to cause this change? Has people's sense of taste really changed? The answer is: yes, the perception of taste has changed.
