Learn How To Tie The Purple Haze Midge
The Purple Haze Midge is a simple but effective pattern when you need something purple under the surface of the water. I have used this in the local rivers as well as at many of the area lakes. It works well as a dropper under a big dry, by itself or as a trailing nymph behind a bigger nymph. Cutthroats love the color purple and this little flashing nymph gets their attention. Rainbows as well as winter whitefish don’t have any hesitation at grabbing it. The first time I tried the Purple Haze Midge was a few years back at Omak Lake for the resident Lahontan cutthroats. I caught several nice cutties there. Very simple to tie and you can fill your box in short order with the three sizes I tie, #14-#18.
