The Worldly life in Islam - Abu Khadeejah

Some points discussed during this Khutbah: Allāh’s rebuke of those who have extended ambitions and hopes for the dunyā and its acquisition which keeps them away from the remembrance of Allāh. The meaning of having extended hope for the dunyā. The astonishing affair of those whose hopes for worldly possessions extend at the end of their lives. The Messenger ﷺ on the two situations in which the heart of an old man remains young. Ibn Ḥajar (رحمه الله) on the subtle benefit in having hope for the worldly things, and the hope that is blameworthy. The concern of the one with incessant hope for the dunyā vs the righteous believer. The one who has truly thanked Allāh for the blessings He has bestowed upon him. The reason a wise person is not deceived by hopes and possessions. The Messenger’s ﷺ advice to Ibn ‘Umar (رضى الله عنه), and his (i.e. Ibn ‘Umar) advice to Mujāhid (رحمه الله). Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) on what has passed, what remains and the time between the two. The ill effects of having incessant hopes of accumulating the dunyā. Softening the heart by remembering death. Two affairs ‘Alī (رضى الله عنه) feared the most for the people, and his advice on how to attain success in the ākhirah. Using our time in the dunyā to do righteous deeds that will benefit us in our graves. Being moderate in our striving for the dunyā.
