Ahmad Yani, Wajo District, Makassar City, South Sulawesi, on Thursday morning (February 5, 2026). The official dismissal ceremony was led by Makassar Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Arya Perdana. The dismissed officer was General Administration Non-Commissioned Officer (Basiun), Brigpol Nasrullah. The rank of Brigpol is the third highest after Bripda and Briptu. The rank insignia of a non-commissioned officer (NCO) in the Indonesian National Police (Polri), Brigadier (Brigpol), is a three-tiered triangle. Brigadier (Brigpol) Nasrullah did not attend his dismissal ceremony. Only his photograph was displayed, escorted by two Provost personnel. The dismissal ceremony began with the reading of the South Sulawesi Regional Police Chief's decree regarding Brigpol Nasrullah's dismissal. This was followed by a symbolic dismissal, where a photo of Brigpol Nasrullah was crossed out. The photo was crossed out by Senior Commissioner Arya Perdana using a red marker. He crossed out the photo of Brigpol Nasrullah in his uniform with a cross. Senior Commissioner Arya Perdana stated that Brigpol Nasrullah was dishonorably discharged for not serving for the past two years (desertion). "This is the one who was dismissed under the name of Nasrullah, and his violation was desertion for more than 30 days," said Senior Commissioner Arya Perdana after leading the dismissal ceremony. "So, from approximately 2022 to 2024, he never came to the office, leading to a code of ethics hearing for him to be dismissed," he continued. Not only was he absent from duty, Brigadier Nasrullah also never attended a summons for questioning by Propam. His whereabouts, Arya said, have also been unknown for the past two years. "He never attended the questioning, because his whereabouts were unknown, so we conducted it in absentia and decided to no longer employ him as a member of the National Police," he explained. Arya said the decision to dismiss Brigadier Nasrullah as a member of the National Police had also been submitted to the South Sulawesi Regional Police. "And the Regional Police Chief's decision was also unanimously stated in the decree, dismissing him with dishonor," he explained. Desertion, or leaving duty after more than 500 days on duty, is a serious violation committed by Brigadier Nasrullah. The 1995 Police Academy graduate also emphasized to his staff the importance of carrying out their duties properly. "The emphasis is on working well, avoiding violations and crimes, because joining the police force isn't easy, so respect the process," Arya emphasized. "Appreciate those who have supported you, maintain the good name of yourself, your family, and the organization," he said. Separately, Commissioner Wahiduddin, Public Relations Officer of the Makassar City Police, stated that Brigadier Nasrullah is the first member of the Makassar City Police to be dismissed this year.
