Naxos Greece Off Season...Where Is Everyone?

🧿 9 nights travelling alone through Santorini, Paros, Naxos and Mykonos 🧿 Day 8 - Naxos Daily Diaries (8) 🇬🇷✨ Last Full Day on Naxos My final full day on Naxos was completely unplanned. No tours, no itinerary, just a slow day wandering and seeing what the island feels like out of season. I spent the morning walking around Naxos Old Town, the Chora, and it was noticeably quieter than the previous few days. A lot of the shops, restaurants and bars had already closed for the season, with little signs up saying goodbye until next year but there were still a few places open, but overall it definitely felt like the end of the season. It also happened to be Ochi Day, which is celebrated every year on 28th October. It’s a national Greek holiday marking Greece saying “no” during World War II. While the Old Town itself felt fairly quiet, just a short 5 to 10 minute walk down towards the harbour completely changed the atmosphere. There were families everywhere, restaurants and cafés were packed, and a band had been playing since early morning. It felt like the whole island had come down to celebrate. I didn’t film much there because it was full of locals and children, but it was really nice to see that contrast. From there, I walked over to Saint George’s Beach (Agios Georgios Beach), which is the closest beach to town and only about a 10 minute walk away. Even at the end of October, it was still such a lovely place to wander. One thing I honestly couldn’t get over was the cats. I knew the Greek islands had a lot, but Naxos must have more than anywhere I’ve ever been. They were absolutely everywhere. I also popped into the Archaeological Museum, but unfortunately it was just about to close, so I didn’t get much of a chance to look around. Aside from that, it was just a slow, relaxed day. Walking, taking it all in, and enjoying my last bit of time on Naxos before moving on. This whole trip has been my first time travelling solo for this length of time, and Naxos has felt like such an easy, beautiful place to do that. Next stop: Mykonos...
