Cleaning a Breville Dual Boiler
In this video, I will go over how and what to clean after each use of the coffee machine. I like to clean the portafilter first. Knock out the coffee grinds, then use a cloth and running water. Take out the filter basket. You can use a spoon if you find it hard to take it out; it takes some practice taking it out with your hands, but it is much quicker. Using the cloth, rub the grooves of the filter basket, then rub the entire basket. Take the portafilter and then rub the edges and the rim, then rub the backside. We will now begin back flushing the machine; I use the single basket and rubber disk. The rubber disk comes with a hole in it, but I blocked the hole using a bit of a toothpick to make it easier to backflush, and it acts more like a blind filter. Rinse, then wipe the shower screen using a cloth, removing any unwanted coffee grinds. Press and hold the single cup button or double cup; this makes the machine skip the pre-infusion stage and jump straight to pumping 9 bars of water. Wait till the pressure gauge hits around the 9 mark region, then stop pressing the button. Repeat again. You will see the water is dirty because we are rinsing the shower screen and group head. The water builds up in the portafilter, creating pressure, and is then released into the drip tray. On the third flush, you can see the water is clear. Give it another rinse, replace the filter basket and insert the portafilter and run some water through, and that's the end of cleaning the group head. We will now wash the steam wand, rub the steam wand with a cloth; if your wand has built up milk on the surface, you can soak the wand and then rub it off. Release some steam as this will rinse the inside of the wand and repeat rubbing it until it is nice and shiny. Wipe down the stains and take out the drip tray for cleaning. I accidentally broke a part of my drip tray a while ago, which is why that piece fell out. Give everywhere a last wipe leaving the area and machine nice and clean for next time. I like to wipe down the grind collector each time, but it isn't necessary. Now, let's roll the machine back and place the cleaned cups and milk jugs on top of the machine, and yeah, that's the end of cleaning the coffee machine. Thanks for watching, and if you have any other questions, leaving them in the comments below. The machine in the video is the Breville dual boiler.
