"Widely Unknown "

This Documentary gives an in-depth, behind the scenes view of the artist's that were involved in the "Widely Unknown" Exhibit in 2001 at Deitch galleries honoring the passing of Margaret Kilgallen due to complications from Breast Cancer. Most of the interviews and footage were taken by my father, Ralph Ackerman who passed away in July of 2008 due to complications from Throat Cancer and ultimately Kidney failure. This film has been a very difficult project to address due to the tragedies, the total lack of finances and ultimately being emotionally overwhelmed by the entire situation. (I have yet to be able to watch it without becoming emotionally turned upside down) In Honor of Margaret Kilgallen - Please support any and all Cancer Support Research funds and groups. This tragedy has altered and changed everything for so many people, I am at a loss for words...I only hope that one day we can find a cure for this horrible disease - no one should have to suffer through such a horrendous ordeal as cancer - I watched Ralph battle cancer from his original diagnosis in 1996 when he was diagnosed with 6 months to live and he somehow managed to hold on for dear life until 2008... when his body ultimately collapsed... in complete and total misery the entire time... all with no money - if it wasn't for Medicaid he would have had no chance in hell of lasting as long as he did...it was horrible to suffer through and watch his health deteriorate to where he was basically skin and bones, and he could barely speak, subsisting on a liquid diet, as his throat was decimated from the Chemo/Radiation treatment. My heart is with Margaret's Mother, Father, and all family members. I sympathize for your loss and am deeply saddened and hope that in some small way this film honors the beauty and hope that Margaret inspired, and continues to influence in so many thousands of people. We all miss her dearly - in my humble opinion she was a golden child - full of positivity and love - a true inspiration - I miss her friendship dearly. She was, and will always be an inspiration for me to never give up and to spread peace, positivity and the true gift of humanity and to enjoy the simple things in life. There is no going back in life, the only thing we can hope for is to try to do our best, each and every day, and not transgress on other people, but work hard to help those around you and offer your love and support. Margaret and Ralph, may you both Rest in Peace. I miss you both dearly and only wish things were different. with Love and Light, Josh Ackerman
