Music Meditation - A Journey of Music & Contemplation, Celebrating Thay and The Order of Interbeing
🎧 For the best listening experience, please make sure Stable Volume is turned off in the YouTube player. In the Footsteps of Thich Nhat Hanh was recorded live on the 16th of June 2026 in Upper Hamlet, Plum Village, France, during our Biannual June retreat. This music meditation is in celebration and honour of Thich Nhat Hanh's life and commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Order of Interbeing. The evening follows parts of Thay's (Thich Nhat Hanh's) life through formative moments, presented through poetry, song, and readings written by Thay and set to music either by him or by his students. It reflects his journey of peace, resilience, and deep compassion, inviting us to walk together on the path of mindful living. We warmly invite you not only to listen, but also to practise together with us. If you have the time and space, you may like to experience this session as a meditation rather than a performance. Find a comfortable place, allow yourself to settle, and, whenever it feels natural, gently close your eyes. Let the poetry, readings, music, and moments of silence guide your breathing and awareness. May this shared practice help you touch the peace, freedom, and compassion that Thay dedicated his life to cultivating, and remind us all that we do not walk this path alone. 01:31 Opening Introduction to the Music & Poetry Meditation 04:52 🎵 Song from Thay's poem: True Source 14:14 📖 Text by Thay: Phuong Boi 19:27 🎵 Song from Thay's poem: Butterflies Over the Golden Mustard Fields 26:00 📖 Text by Thay: First Blossoms 28:05 🎵 Song from Thay's words: Island Within 35:46 📖 Text by Thay: The Bamboo Grove 38:05 🎼 Interbeing (Composition by Darryl Purpose) 41:33 📖 Text by Thay: At Cau Kinh Village 44:12 🎵 Song from Thay's poem: Little Star 50:34 📖 Text by Thay: Meeting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 54:54 🎵 Song from Thay's poem: Alone Again 58:44 🪶 Poem by Thay: A Prayer for Land 59:15 🎵 Song from Thay's poem: A Prayer for Land 1:04:30 📖 Our Sangha Friend Reading Poem 1:07:38 🎵 Song from Thay's poem: Please Call Me by My True Names 1:10:14 📖 Text by Thay: A Teacher Looking for His Disciple 1:14:06 🎼 The Sound of the Rising Tide (Composition by Br.
