Bishop J. Drew Sheard, the new presiding bishop and chief apostle of the Churches of God in Christ, appointed Elder Glenn A. McKinney, Sr. as the new pastor of St. Stephens Cathedral Church of God in Christ in San Diego, CA. He succeeds his later father, Bishop George Dallas McKinney, Jr. It happened on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, moments after Bishop McKinney's funeral at Faith Chapel in La Mesa, CA. He founded and pastored St. Stephen's from September 1962 until his passing on March 20, 2021. Since 1985 he served as prelate bishop of the Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Southern California.
