The history of independence and nationalism of the Basque Country (Euskadi) is linked to that of ETA, acronym for Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (lit. Basque Country and Freedom). Since the second half of the twentieth century, this association has been one of the main problems in Spain. Cities like San Sebastian, Pamplona or Guipúzcoa were the center of ETA's operations, while the "Herri Batasuna" party was their political arm. The targets hit by the Basque independence members were soldiers of the Guardia Civil, but also unfortunately ordinary citizens caught up in the attacks that inflamed Spanish society between 1959 and 2011, the year in which ETA declared its militant season over. In this documentary we retrace the history of a people, the Basque people, and their country, Euskal Herria.
