CUIDA: RDC ANVISA 1002

In this edition of the CUIDA Project (Care, Union, Integration and Development), an initiative of the Auxiliary and Technical Professionals Commission of the Regional Council of Dentistry of Minas Gerais (CRO-MG), we addressed an essential topic for safe clinical practice: the update of ANVISA's RDC 1002 and its impacts on the routine of Dental Assistants and Technicians (ASB and TSB). The lecture was conducted by biosafety specialist Gisele Estevanim, who presented in a clear and practical way the main changes in health legislation and how they influence the daily lives of dental teams. During the meeting, fundamental topics were discussed, such as: • New classifications of medical devices in dentistry • Updates to cleaning, drying, and sterilization protocols • Important prohibitions introduced by RDC 1002 • Importance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) • Traceability of sterilized materials • Monitoring and control of sterilization processes • Responsibilities of the auxiliary team within clinical biosafety RDC 1002 represents an important advance in the standardization and safety of dental services in Brazil, reinforcing the importance of biosafety and integrated action among dentists, assistants, and oral health technicians. 💡 The CUIDA project was created to promote professional development, dialogue, and appreciation of auxiliary and technical oral health professionals throughout the country.
