"Enfants de la Creuse" : le combat de Marie-Germaine Périgogne pour les Réunionnais déracinés

Nicknamed the "children of Creuse," nearly 2,000 people from Réunion were forcibly removed from their island and placed with families or in foster homes in mainland France between 1962 and 1984, often at the cost of a change of identity. One of them, Marie-Germaine Périgogne, now president of the Federation of Uprooted Children of the French Overseas Departments and Regions (DROM) and author of the book Les déracinés de La Réunion (Nouvelles Sources, March 2026), recounts this forced exile and the lies that shrouded her life.
