Ive shot many high ISO portraits (Stills), in the ISO 12800 range. Most of Canon’s are very, very good, where we get this color issue on the D5500. You can probably shoot 6400-12800 for portraits without issues on the Canon. Nikon also has a flat mode for video which many users might like. It is absolutely my preferred video camera between these cameras. Seems that with time, Nikon is really dominating with sensor performance, especially dynamic range and Canon’s strengths are in focusing. Many ask why I do not test for RAW ISO: I am mainly interested in how the camera companies respective processors clean up noise, which typically does so much better than any other alternative processor, such as Lightroom and Adobe RAW. While high end pros typically like to shoot in RAW for professional shoots, the vast majority of entry level users will be shooting in JPEG, and therefore, this is why I test them. Any questions?
