DANYEL GERARD - BUTTERFLY (AUSTRALIAN 7" VERSION)

French singer Danyel Gerard had a massive hit in 1971-72 with "Butterfly" around the world and in Oz. The vinyl version we heard on radio and I purchased as a 7" single had an English version on one side and a French or German version on the flip. It charted with a competing version by Oz artist Matt Flinders. Matt had lyrics that told the story of Madamme Butterfly. Danyel recorded versions of "Butterfly" in Spanish, Italian, French, English (different lyrics for USA & UK markets)and German. He also altered the English lyrics for various markets in Australia. He matched his lyrics to the version by Matt Flinders. At present most foreign language versions of this song have made it to CD it's only in 2015 the Australian version was issued, in of all places, Germany! In 2016 it was also released locally on a compilation CD called "Seasons of Change." . The version on this video is the original Aussie mix but extended by me in my home studios.
