Title: Ep 5 BTS Hunder-Sumur-Siachen base camp |Nubra valley behind the scenes, Ladakh series Hunder & Sumur are two different sides of Nubra valley, we travelled to both of these sides during our tour of Nubra valley- ladakh. We started our day from Hunder- Nubra valley, then travelled to Sumur, stayed there overnight and next day we went to Siachen base camp. Hunder is 125kms from leh and sumur is 45 kms from Hunder and siachen base camp is 80 kms from Sumur. Hunder and Sumur are famous for sand dunes, if your objective is to see double hump camels, you will find them at Hunder. Date of travel -19 & 20 july 2023 Hotel at Sumur : We stayed in kesar guest house Sumur, I was told that electricity at Sumur village is mostly available in the night but that day there was not electricity. We paid rs 3000 for the room and food separately at Kesar guest house. The vibes of this place is really old school and soothing and the dinner is delicious. On 20 July we started our day early as we have to reach siachen base camp early as weather is unpredictable in hilly terrains. Siachen glacier is the second most longest glacier in the world which is about 77 kms long with 5735m. Height and third biggest sweet water source after north and south pole. In all we spent about 3 to 4 hours at Siachen base camp.
