Colorado Avalanche at Dallas Stars - Game 5 (1999 Western Conference Final) ["Altitude Classics"]

In one of the most exciting NHL games that I can remember, the Avalanche and Stars trade goals back and forth, before Colorado escapes with a 7-5 victory to take a 3-2 series lead against Dallas. Chris Drury and Valeri Kamensky each score twice for the Avalanche, while Peter Forsberg adds a goal and two assists and Joe Sakic tallies three assists. Sandis Ozolinsh and Adam Deadmarsh also add a goal and an assist each, and Patrick Roy gets the win in the Colorado crease. Four Stars - Brett Hull, Mike Keane, Darryl Sydor and Pat Verbeek - each get a goal and an assist, while Guy Carbonneau and Mike Modano both add two assists. Ed Belfour only manages to stop 19 of 25 shots and takes the loss in the Dallas net. Game originally played on May 30, 1999 and broadcast nationally on CBC, featuring commentary by Chris Cuthbert and Brian Hayward. Intermissions have been removed. NOTE: This game was presented as part of the "Altitude Classics" series, hosted by Avalanche broadcaster Peter McNab. As a result, some portions of the game were edited out to fit into a shorter time slot: almost six minutes are missing from the first period, two minutes are missing from the second period, and one minute is missing from the third period.
