The Lifeguard Legacy | A Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Documentary

The Lifeguard Legacy is a short documentary created to preserve the history, people, and culture of surf and rescue in Virginia Beach. Created in partnership with the Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum, with collaboration from the Virginia Beach Lifesaving Service (VBLS) and support from the City of Virginia Beach Cultural Affairs Department, the film draws from archival materials and firsthand accounts to document more than a century of ocean safety and coastal life. This documentary exists as a cultural record and a community resource. Its purpose is preservation, education, and public access, ensuring these stories remain visible and understood for generations to come.
