Smashing Pumpkins - Doomsday Clock Reimagined (01)
I own no rights to this song, this is entirely written, co produced and performed entirely by Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins. HEADPHONES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED It's not everyone's favourite album, purely due to it being a victim of poor production and a few songs seemingly going nowhere, but there is still a lot to be explored in Zeitgeist. I personally have always enjoyed this album and it's tracklist, never really heard the "bad production" until a few days ago. The primary concern is that Corgan's vocals are way too high and upfront in the mix, which seems to be an issue even today with modern releases, so I've set myself a ridiculous task. In coming days, I will be working on every song found on the zeitgeist album to attempt to save some of them. It's been done a million times, so I'm taking my own spin on things. It will be comprised of an entirely new track listing and will feature many b sides that probably should've made it to the album, that doesn't just include studio tracks, that includes a fair amount of tracks only recorded live. For example, despite 99 floors being very well recorded during the residency sessions, it still feels mildly incomplete and I've always been curious how a studio rendition would sound, so I'll be re recording all the instruments into logic and ripping Corgan's vocals from the residency shows with added affects you hear in this recording. Doomsday Clock is the perfect opening track, so very little has been altered. In this recording I've created an intro to better fit the theme of Zeitgeist, with the organ + guitar tracks from the track titled "Zeitgeist" representing peace, before eventually fading away and dropping only to be replaced with a direct audio clip from one of Bezmenov's lectures around the Cold War. Jimmy's drums kick in, which have been turned up for the intro, but drop in volume slightly once the guitar tracks kick in. It'll be slightly hard to hear, but I've added about 4 more guitar tracks playing completely different melodies. 2 play throughout the song, 1 plays during the middle 8 and the last one place after said middle 8. Corgan's vocals have some new added affects, with a few compressors slapped on and the actual vocals being turned down slightly in the mix. It's not much, but it's a great place to start.
