12: Immense Pressure

In this episode we outline the differences between our retail line at Pittsburgh Juice and our wholesale line. Our retail juices are sold fresh daily, while our wholesale line features the same organic fresh pressed juice, which then goes through an additional process called high pressure pasteurized (HPP). HPP is the least invasive form of pasteurization, utilizing a hyperbaric chamber that exudes immense pressure on the product, rendering any potential bacteria inactive and also extending the shelf life. Like anything, there is some debate about whether fresh juice or HPP juice are better. We’ll take all these considerations into account and talk about why there is a place for both in our business.
