Papua Mountains Governor John Tabo warmly welcomed the inaugural landing of a Sriwijaya Air aircraft at Wamena Airport on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. The inaugural flight of the Sriwijaya Air Series 500 aircraft also carried a group of state officials, including the Indonesian Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Ribka Haluk, and several Sriwijaya Air officials. Papua Mountains Governor John Tabo expressed his deep gratitude, given the challenges of establishing transportation access in the Papua Mountains region. The inaugural flight of the Sriwijaya Air aircraft further expands connectivity in Papua Mountains. The aircraft's arrival was greeted with a festive welcome at Wamena Airport, Papua Mountains.
