Webinar - 60th anniversary of the Red Book: Uranium resources, production and demand in perspective

Since 1965, the joint NEA/IAEA Uranium Group has prepared the Uranium Resources, Production and Demand report—commonly known as the “Red Book”. Over six decades, it has grown from a 22-page document with 11 country reports to a comprehensive biennial publication now featuring 62 country reports and more than 600 pages. The Red Book has chronicled the expansion of global nuclear power capacity from 29 reactors in 1965 to 438 in 2022, reflecting major technological, economic, and geopolitical shifts. The Red Book is the world’s leading reference on uranium and is the only government sponsored publication that systematically tracks global uranium resources, exploration, production, and demand. This event celebrated the Red Book’s 60-year legacy and serves as a pre-launch for the forthcoming Sixty Years of Uranium Resources, Production and Demand in Perspective, the “Red Book Retrospective” – second edition report. This upcoming edition will provide a comprehensive analysis of six decades of uranium data, including evolving resource estimates, production methods, and demand projections, as well as case studies of major producers like Australia, Canada, Kazakhstan, and Namibia.
