I bought the cheapest BMW R1200RT on Marketplace - Part 2: Fixing tires, suspension and forks.
I picked up this 2007 BMW R1200RT — in this 2nd episode we will take care of the tires, front forks and suspension. Not subscribed yet? Don't miss any of the future content! / @nielsonwheels83 The fork seals are leaking, the tires are done, the suspension feels tired, and I’m not even sure if the ABS works properly. Oh, and there’s a pretty heavy ticking noise coming from the left cylinder... In Part 2 of my high-mileage BMW R1200RT project, it’s time to take things a step further. With the new tires finally mounted, I dive into the suspension — replacing the fork seals and tackling the ESA system, which hasn’t been working as it should. After 190,000 km, this bike’s suspension definitely needs some love! I go through the process of removing the forks, inspecting the old seals, and fitting new ones before reassembling everything. Then it’s time to bring the Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) back to life, making sure both comfort and sport modes actually do something again. With fresh tires and a properly working suspension, the R1200RT is finally starting to feel like a real touring bike again.
