Half Reel of Tulloch Scottish Highland dancing competition held during 2023 Kenmore Highland Games
Competitors in the 1/2 Reel of Tulloch Highland Dancing competition heats , held during the 2023 Kenmore Highland Games. These friendly Games are held in early July each year at Kenmore by Loch Tay in beautiful Perthshire, one of the few evening Highland Games in Scotland. The Reel of Tulloch usually follows a Strathspey, and is one of the few dances where competitors dance with each other (although they are still being marked individually). It is said to have originated in the churchyard of Tullich Church in Deeside, where on a cold winter's Sunday morning, the minister was late for his service. The parishioners tried to keep warm by stamping their feet, clapping their hands and chafing their arms until a rhythm was created.
