De strijd van Michel tegen MS

Michel Harkema has started a crowdfunding campaign to raise €60,000. He needs this money for treatment in Moscow. In January 2018, Michel Harkema was diagnosed with MS, or Multiple Sclerosis. This is a chronic disease that causes the immune system to attack the central nervous system. This causes inflammation and eventually scarring in the protective layer of the nervous system's cells. "Doctors and specialists couldn't help me, so I started doing my own research," says Harkema. This eventually led Harkema to connect with others in the same situation through a Facebook group. "Through this Facebook group, I heard about stem cell therapy in Moscow; the results are extremely promising. With this therapy, I hope to be able to spend more time with my family." The therapy in Moscow is a stem cell therapy; these stem cells will be derived from Michel's own blood. The goal of this therapy is to reset the immune system. This way, the MS inflammatory cells will no longer damage the brain. For the entire trip and the therapy in Moscow, €60,000 is needed. Several wonderful crowdfunding initiatives have already been launched. "My daughter baked gingerbread cookies, and my wife organized a tower run. Furthermore, many people in our neighborhood and village are helping out." More information about the crowdfunding and donations can be found at www.michelvsms.nl
