Kingdom Culture // Blessed are the Poor in Spirit (Week Six) | July 12, 2026 | James Dearmond

What does it truly mean to be “poor in spirit”? In this powerful message from our Kingdom Culture series, Pastor James Dearmond from NLC Heber Springs unpacks the first Beatitude found in Matthew 5:3: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Being poor in spirit does not mean living without confidence or purpose. It means recognizing our complete dependence on God. True humility begins when we stop pretending we can carry life alone and surrender our wisdom, strength, and resources to Him. Throughout this message, Pastor James challenges us to ask three important questions: Am I teachable? Am I praying? Am I generous? God’s wisdom is greater than ours. His strength never runs out, and His resources are more than enough. When we acknowledge our need for Him, we discover the deep, unshakable satisfaction that comes from belonging to His Kingdom. May this message encourage you to pray: “Lord, I am totally dependent on Your grace, Your goodness, Your leading, and Your love. I put my trust in You.” Thanks for joining us at NLC Beebe!
