I Put a Maytag Board in a Whirlpool Washer — And It Worked

This Whirlpool washer came to me after I sold a rebuilt machine to a customer, and it showed up with two problems working against each other. The water pump ran nonstop, and the machine walked itself across the floor during the spin cycle because it was out of balance. In this one, I show how I tracked down the bad control board and swapped it for a board from a Maytag. Whirlpool builds most of these machines the same from the console down, so a board from another Whirlpool-made unit will work as long as the part number matches the placards on your console. I explain why that matters and how to check it before you order a part, because not every board is interchangeable, and grabbing the wrong one is easy to do. From there, I walk you through swapping the suspension rods to cure the out-of-balance problem, then run the machine through diagnostic mode so you can confirm the repair before you close it back up.
